Más madera

In July 1998, the late night show ‘Más madera’ reached the screens of Telecinco to brighten up those steamy summer nights. The show was presented by Juan y Medio with the ever-original collaboration of Boris Izaguirre and the debut of Jessica Sánchez. The most incredible tales were recounted around midnight on a set decorated as a huge city rooftop surrounded by terraces and roofs where the neighbours aired their opinions.

Guests were invited to tell of their experiences in the first person, some of them quite unbelievable, but all dealt with in a humorous way. Every night also saw the visit on the set of a “fantasy witness” who, sheltered by anonymity (they wore some type of camouflage), unravelled their tale. The audience and the other guests subjected them to an exhaustive interrogation to discover whether what they were saying was in fact true or just pure fantasy. The public then decided by voting whether the witness was telling the truth or not. The hundred people who followed the programme live from the set also took an active part. They were under the orders of Jessica to sing, dance, give their opinion, ask questions, shout or jump up at any given moment.
