Hosts Alex and Roser, who conducted alternatively the shows, toured through whole Catalunya region looking for the best performers in the following 5 musical categories: best performer in catalan language rewarded with the “Copper Donkey” award; best performer in spanish language rewarded with the “Copper Bull” award; best performer in english rewarded with the “Adjustable Spanner” award; best song adaptation or original lyrics composer rewarded with the “Copper Bulb” award and, finally, the worst performer rewarded with the “Copper Umbrella” award.

The local programmes started in town Ripoll and continued through the towns of Figueres, Berga, Puigcerdà, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Manresa, Valls, Tremp, La Seu d’Urgell, etc. Many towns were visited by the bus of “Cantamania” and, in each one, a jury composed by members of the local authorities and neighbours as well chose the winners for each category.
During every primetime live show the local winners selected the week before were competing in front of a jury composed by 250 people from the towns visited. Moreover, viewers voted at home for their favourites ones too through telephone calls and SMS.
