In October 1998, Gestmusic accepted un unprecedented challenge for the time: to undertake the elaboration, production and broadcasting of a television channel for the nine days duration of Sonimag 98, one of the trade fairs held at the Fira de Barcelona, which in this case was given over to consumer electronics.
Sonimag TV was created by Gestmusic to coincide with the thirty-sixth edition of the event that on that occasion had a truly star attraction: over 600 square metres dedicated to the new digital home technology, the DVD.

During the event, Sonimag TV provided 18 hours of programming on closed-circuit television for the fair. The broadcasts gave the very latest news of the event with the use of video cameras that recorded the activity of over two hundred exhibitors, interviews and surveys with the visitors, which that year broke all records, reaching the figure of half a million.
The journalist Marta Cáceres was the channel’s public image, and she had a team of over one hundred people working on production, scriptwriting, independent camera teams, lighting, informatics, technique, costume, makeup, etc. Sonimag TV could be seen on the different screens positioned around the fair and in other strategic points of Barcelona. Furthermore, by means of the ASTRA satellite, the programme could be watched all over Spain and part of Europe 24 hours a day. Over thirty local television channels also covered the channel’s activities.
